BUSINESS MISSION TO CANADA FROM SMARTCITYTECH

DATES: 07-11 OF NOVEMBER 2022

SmartCityTech is organizing a mission to Canada in November

From the 06th to the 11th of November, 5 clusters from the SmartCityTech partnership under the ET4S project will be visiting Canada to find potential collaboration opportunities for European companies in this American market.

The delegation will visit two main cities from Canada. First, we will land in Toronto where we will know more about the Advanced Manufacturing topics thanks to the Advanced Manufacturing Super Cluster and we will meet relevant local stakeholders. We are also going to meet the local Digital Transformation Super Cluster.

Then, we will fly to Montreal, another very relevant ecosystem in order to know more about the local stakeholders and the strategic areas they have related to technology such as smart cities, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Visual and Creative Industries.

We are working with different bridgehead partners which will show us the potential collaborative opportunities that may arise from our visit to Canada.

This will be the third mission to America within our Et4S project after our mission to New York and Ithaca in May and the mission to west cost of Canada in September related to energy topics.

WHY CANADA?

There is no definitive tracking on the number of smart city projects currently underway in Canada, but there is clearly a high level of interest. As early as 2017, when the Government of Canada Smart Cities Challenge was launched, over 225 municipalities expressed interest in exploring smart city benefits by submitting applications. Municipalities from every province and territory, including small towns, Indigenous communities and large urban centres all applied.
