Doing business in Latin America, China and Southeast Asia: the importance of intellectual property for innovative SMEs

Next 27th of March it will be held the event “Doing business in Latin America, China and Southeast Asia: the importance of intellectual property for innovative SMEs” jointly organised by the China, Latin America and South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesks, three initiatives of the European Union.

This event will be an opportunity to exchange information on the importance of intellectual property (IP) for innovative European SMEs doing business in Latin America, China and Southeast Asia. If an SME goes international without protection, its brand is vulnerable to copycats, and its intellectual assets are exposed to risk. More specifically, the event will aim at:

  • Informing SME intermediaries about the IP services offered by the Helpdesks to highly innovative SMEs (such as SME Instrument beneficiaries);
  • Presenting real examples of SMEs that have experienced IP-related challenges when opening up to new markets (with live case studies from companies);
  • Training SME intermediaries on relevant IP topics that can be applied horizontally across the three regions;
  • Creating an ongoing dialogue/discussion among participants about the importance of IP for SMEs in the light of three critical  sectors for the European economy (ICT, Energy-Cleantech and Health).

The event will focus on highly innovative European SMEs that are eager to develop, grow and go international. Supporting these SMEs, and ensuring that their IP is protected when they operate internationally, is crucial for the EU’s economy.

Experiences and active participation would be a huge asset: we invite people to confirm your participation by registering at http://euconf.eu/ipr-stakeholders-meeting.
